30th Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of BSEC Member States was held in Varna, Bulgaria on 19 June 2014

BSEC-URTA Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Adrian Albu, attended the 30th Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of BSEC Member States in Varna, Bulgaria on 19 June 2014, presented results of cooperation with BSEC under Permit Project, IVWC Pilot Project, MHI and Green Lanes and called for efficient and sustainable involvement of national competent authorities in these projects in order to be achieved tangible results and real progress in implementation of the BSEC transport related memoranda.

The Council took note of the Report of the Meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the BSEC Member States, held in Sofia on 16 April 2014.

The Council welcomed the adoption of the Sofia Joint Declaration on greening transport in BSEC Region “Through enhanced BSEC regional co-operation towards a safe and sustainable transport” and instructed the Working Group on Transport to undertake necessary measures for the effective implementation of its provisions.

The Council took note of the informal meeting of the Steering Committee on Facilitation of Road Transport of Goods in the BSEC Region which was held at the BSEC Headquarters on 15 May 2014, and emphasized the importance of gradual liberalization of the international road transport for increased trade and prosperity in the region.

The Council took note of a Status Report on implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Coordinated Development of the Black Sea Ring Highway, prepared by the BSRH JPTS.

The Council welcomed the agreement reached by the transport authorities of the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine regarding the BSRH route crossing the territories of their countries, which was reflected in a Joint Statement of the Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova, the Minister of Transport of Romania and the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine on the development of the route of the Black Sea Ring Highway, signed on 16 April 2014 in Sofia.

The Council appreciated the efforts of the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office for organizing the above-mentioned Trilateral Meeting.
