BSEC-URTA Tries to Remove Reasons of Delays on Border-Crossing Points

The 33rd Meeting of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly took place in Grand Hotel Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria on 8 June 2018. The meeting was honored by high level participation of Bulgarian authorities: Deputy Minister of Transport, IT and Communications Mr. Velik Zanchev, Deputy Executive Director of Road Transport Agency Ms. Tsvetelina Ilieva-Yordanova as well as Chief Experts of National Customs Administration Mrs. Elizaveta Takova and Mr. Dobril Nenov.

The Draft BSEC-URTA Resolution on Implementation of Facilitation Measures Designed to Optimize Border Crossing at Main Land Borders between Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece was submitted for discussion. And according to the proposal of the BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mr. Adrian Albu to set up Ad Hoc Working Party for analyzing the reasons of delays and their negative impact on the economies of the BSEC Member States the General Assembly made a decision on establishment of such a Party. After all deliberations the final version of the Resolution is supposed to be disseminated during related meetings which will take place during upcoming BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office of Azerbaijan (as of 1 July 2018).

Presentation of the BSEC-URTA partners Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC) took place. Alternative dispute resolution methods were presented by President of the ISTAC Executive Board Prof. Dr. Ziya Akinci.

H.E. Ambassador Michael B. Christides, BSEC Secretary General, informed the audience on the participation of BSEC PERMIS at the International Transport Forum Annual Summit 2018 in Leipzig, Germany. He told about the stand of BSEC under the title The BSEC Organization: point of reference for regional cooperation” and thanked BSEC-URTA for fruitful collaboration during preparation to the event.

AMERIT was granted BSEC-URTA Membership status as of 1 January 2019.

General Assembly agreed to hold its next meeting in Yerevan, Armenia on 5 October 2018.
