Cost-effective Extension of ATP Certificates in Turkey

Turkey is the country providing ATP Type Tests and renewal of ATP Licenses for refrigerated trucks owners on advantageous basis. In most of the countries average cost of extension of ATP documents is around 350-500 Euro, although in Turkey it is 245 Euro (1.500 TL). And this option is available for not only Turkish transporters but also for carriers from abroad.

Turkey accepted ATP (Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage) in 2012.

Since 2017 Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) realizes the ATP Type Tests and Inspections in Turkey.

Two Type Test Stations (both in Sakarya, 150 km from Istanbul) and 7 Periodic Inspection Stations (in Izmir, Kocaeli, Mersin, 2 in Hatay, 2 in Sakarya) provide their service in Turkey. One more Type Test Station for performing the cooling/heating devices type approval tests is expected to be open until the end of 2018.

Before 15 May 2017 Turkish trucks had to go to various countries such as Germany, in order to renew their refrigerated truck’s inspection/testing processes. Currently, with the registration of TSE in UNECE, manufacturers/transporters are able to realize their ATP Type Tests and ATP inspections for extension their certificates in Turkey.

This option is also available for Black Sea transporters whose countries are not yet members of ATP Convention or do not have got adequate testing stations.

In order to perform ATP type tests and have inspection for ATP Certificate renewals, transporter may choose ATP Testing Stations in Turkey. The location can be reached through the following link - https://www.tse.org.tr/IcerikDetay?ID=2648&ParentID=2646
