Aslı Gözütok: BSEC-URTA and ISTAC cooperation configured the basis for using facilities of arbitration for road transport sector in BSEC

Conference “Ways of Disputes Resolution in Logistics and Transportation Sector & Proposals of Alternative Methods of Disputes Resolution” was held in Istanbul Bar on 4 January 2019. It was jointly organized by Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC), BSEC-URTA and 

Association of International Hauliers of Turkey (UND).

Representatives of logistics sector, lawyers, arbitrators and mediators attended the conference.

BSEC-URTA president Ms. Asli Gözütok participated the panel. In her speech she evaluated advantages which give arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution methods to hauliers. She underlined that BSEC-URTA and ISTAC cooperation configured the basis for using facilities of arbitration for road transport sector in BSEC. 

The MoU between BSEC-URTA and ISTAC was signed in November 2017. Since that time the survey on arbitration was held among Members and Observers of BSEC-URTA, the needs of the carriers were determined. ISTAC high-level representatives participated the 33rd Meeting of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly in Sofia, Bulgaria on 8 June 2018. The “Logistics and Arbitration” guide book in 3 languages (English, Russian, Turkish) was jointly elaborated and published by two entities in order satisfy the request of the sector for information concerning arbitration.
