New Member in BSEC family

The Republic of North Macedonia applied for full fledged membership to BSEC organisation. The application was considered at the 40th Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Sofia on 28 June 2019. The Republic was represented by H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Mr. Nikola Dimitrov on the meeting.

 

The Council, acknowledging the membership application submitted by the Republic of North Macedonia in accordance with Article 6 of the Charter, invited the aforementioned State to accede to the Charter of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and to the Additional Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in order to become a member of the Organization.

 

«There is no better proof of the relevance and the prominent role of our Organization on the international stage than the application of the Republic of North Macedonia for membership in BSEC. I trust that our Council today will consider favourably this worthy candidacy and that we will soon be able to welcome a new Member State to our Organization», - stated H.E. Mrs. Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

H.E. Michael B. Christides, BSEC Secretary General, welcomed H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Mr. Nikola Dimitrov.

«I sincerely hope that with the agreement of all BSEC Ministers and Heads of Delegation we will today welcome in our Organization, as its 13th Member – what a lucky number, Sir! - the friendly State of North Macedonia, thus further strengthening the BSEC Organization in its efforts to promote economic cooperation and sustainable development in the wider region», - noticed H.E. Michael B. Christides.
