BSEC-URTA requested support for facilitating border crossings in the region

Deputy General Secretary Alpdogan Kahraman represented BSEC-URTA on the Meeting of the BSEC Working Group on Trade & Economic Development held on 04 December 2019 in BSEC premises in Istanbul.

Alpdogan Kahraman shared with the participants the outcome of the Study Visit of representatives of customs authorities of the BSEC Member States and BSEC-URTA Member Associations to Kapikule-Kapitan Andreevo Border Crossing Point (27 May 2019).

BSEC-URTA expressed the urgent need to facilitate trade between BSEC countries and to third parties by facilitating and digitalizing border crossings.

As logistics is the engine of all economic activities and has a multilevel effect on trade, BSEC-URTA requested from the representatives of trade in the BSEC region to support and continue border visits in the BSEC region.

The Working Group took note of the information provided by the BSEC PERMIS and by BSEC-URTA on the Study-Visit and, acknowledging the usefulness of such study-visits, suggested the further continuation of similar visits to the other cross-border points in the BSEC Region.
