Halkali-Muratbey. Wonders sometimes happen

BSEC-URTA management visited the customs in Muratbey on 15 September 2021.

Prior to its Management Council, BSEC-URTA President and Deputy President, Mr. Eduart Kasa and Ms. Olivera Miovska, accompanied by BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mr. Adrian Albu and Deputy Secretary Deneral Mr. Alpdogan Kahraman visited Muratbey customs. The BSEC-URTA member TOBB-UND’s General Director Mr. Mehmet Uylukcu also attended the site visit and guided the delegation in the internal customs.

The delegation benefited site visit to talk with drivers of BSEC countries and took their comments about Muratbey customs.

After witnessing the significant progress in the Muratbey internal customs and positive feedbacks from the drivers BSEC-URTA Management presented its compliments to the representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Customs in Muratbey customs on behalf of BSEC-URTA members.

Before one of the busiest customs points in Istanbul was Halkali Customs with a volume of over 1.000.000 customs declarations each year.

Until 2015, although huge trade and truck traffic was circulated through this important customs point, the infrastructure and services in Halkali Customs were a nightmare for the drivers and transport operators, as neither facilities nor the infrastructure was adequate for the official authorities, transporter operators, and certainly the drivers.

But with the right on time and exemplary decision of the Ministry of Customs of Turkey, backed with the support of the architecture of modern Borders and Customs concept in Turkey; Customs & Tourism Enterprises (GTI), Halkali Customs moved to its new location in Catalca and with its current name as Muratbey.

Muratbey Customs provides BSEC transporters access without getting into the city traffic and has a 220.000 sqm area.

In Muratbey, being in the first place the customs administrative units, foreign trade sustaining institutions, trade associations, and non-governmental organizations serve together.
