New important topics, approaches, and solutions for the problems of BSEC transporters

53th BSEC-URTA Management Council met in a hybrid (physically and virtually) format in Istanbul on 16 September 2021.

President Eduart Kasa in his opening speech presented sincere thanks to the previous management of BSEC-URTA for their efforts and achievements and expressed the readiness and commitment of the new management team to meet today`s challenges of the pandemic and bring solutions for the multiple problems the road transport industry is facing nowadays.


After the adoption of the agenda, the participants reviewed and analyzed the progress of BSEC-URTA priorities during 2021. They decided to continue strong efforts for developing the BSEC Permit system, enriching the studies of the BSEC-URTA Border Crossing Working Group, contributing to the implementation by the IRU of eTIR, eCMR pilot projects and following-up developments by the EC in regard eVisa for professional drivers.


The BSEC-URTA management set to work in a completely new spirit, presenting important topics, approaches and solutions to the problems of BSEC carriers. It was decided that a Pilot Project on joint controls of trucks against illegal immigration should be initiated at Turkey-Bulgaria and Turkey-Greece Border Crossing Points and a pool of legal advisers should be created in the region to address national and international legislation aspects faced by hauliers.

The Management Council decided to hold the next General Assembly of BSEC-URTA on 25th November 2021 in Istanbul in Hybrid format.

For the appointment of the Secretary General of BSEC-URTA for the term of office 2022-2025, the International Secretariat was instructed to take feedback from member associations either on new proposal or renewal of the actual mandate. The options will be presented by the Management Council for decision to the 38th Meeting of BSEC-URTA General Assembly to be held on 25 November 2021.
